I don't have a membership to a gym, I can't see a personal trainer. I simply can't afford it. What I have are some old workout videos, the internet, and some 2 pound hand weights. Not much, but I know it is possible to lose weight and get fit using those. However when I see so many other people using fancy new gadgets it makes me a little jealous. I get it in my mind that those things are going to make it easier for them to lose. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but since I don't have them I'll have to just suck it up and go with what I do have.
Now to the reason I actually sat down to write this post:
If you are like me and doing this on your own how do you know that you are doing the exercises right?
Take this one for example: The Plank
How do I know that am doing it right? How can I be sure that what I am feeling is actually because it is using muscles I haven't used in years and not because I'm doing it wrong?
Do you know Mizfit? She has loads of Youtube videos on getting fit using what is in your own home. (www.mizfitonline.com)
ReplyDeleteSure, there are lots of people who lose a lot of weight using fancy equipment, but there are lots more people who have fancy equipment and expensive gym contracts who never lose any weight, because they're not committed. It all boils down to commitment.
If the Karate Kid can learn his moves by hanging up his jacket, putting it back on, and picking it up, you and I can lose weight by walking, jumping rope, hula hooping and lifting soup cans.
As for doing it right, I always just ask the ones who know, like my husband, or someone on the internet.
Good luck!
I don't believe I've seen her on youtube. I will definitely look at her website though. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the commitment part. I had an ex-boyfriend that had a membership to a gym and in the two years I dated him he didn't go one time.
That's what I like most about walking, running and biking... not so much fear of doing it wrong, and cardio is excellent for raising the metabolism and burning fat.
ReplyDeletehard act to follow Mr Sh*t, but I agree with him. Activity. Moving, dancing, walking, jogging. There are a ton of things on youtube, but i would reccomend the mayo clinc weight loss site. lots of good stuff there!
